A little history of our Brittany Holiday Cottages and our Gites in Brittany
The original dwelling which is now the Priory gîte was built as a manor house. Originally Saint-Cadou was a small hamlet which was named Gorreker. The name Gorreker has been given to the street, Hent Gorreker, to preserve the memory. Gorreker hamlet expanded a little and even had a church which was just to the north of our gardens over the road. Due to the hamlets growth, the name was changed to Saint-Cadou and a larger church was needed consequently the original church was demolished and the existing church as you see it now was built.
In its time the priory, one of our gites in Brittany, was owned by a family of weavers and it was also home to the clergy whilst the new church was being built, furthermore you can see evidence of this in the carvings and details around the properties. Kergudon became the name of the property when it was converted into a farm and then later converted into gîtes in Brittany France.
Records are sadly few and far between and as a result if you want to know any more about the history of our gites in Brittany please let us know.
La Maison Cornec is especially noteworthy and is just up the road in Saint-Rivoal. The Maison Cornec is now a museum and is very similar, although a little smaller, to Kergudon. You can visit the house. have a look at their website here: Brittany Cottage

Gites in Brittany
Ben & Dave are the owners of Kergudon Gites and take great pride in trying to create a wonderful place for your holiday in their gites in Brittany.
“We bought Kergudon in January 2015 and quickly set about refurbishing the interiors of the existing gites to make sure that we could create the very best gites in Brittany.”
The initial renovations continued throughout 2015 before work on the gardens started. “As Brittany cottages go, we are lucky to have such charming buildings but the gardens are going to take several years to get to a state that we are happy with.” The gardens in our gites in Brittany are taking a lot of work to tame and improve. Each year things improve. Ben & Dave have planted hundreds of meters of hedging around the boundary as well as reinstating the orchard and introducing interest in planting. “We hopefully have created a peaceful, relaxing and interesting garden and landscape from which to enjoy our Brittany Cottages.
