Each week in my blogs I\u2019m pleased that I\u2019m able to say that we have completed the next big step in the pool house.  This week is no exception and, arguably, we have completed 2 big steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Admittedly, the first was less than a day\u2019s work as all the preparation had happened during the construction process and that was the final electrical work to install sockets and provide power to the lighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To\u00a0 be honest, I have used this blog title before in May 2020<\/a> when we had power reinstated in Priory when that was undergoing its major refurbishment but we felt it appropriate this time too as it\u2019s such a significant step \u2013 again!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We bought the principal light sources, the 3 antler chandeliers, last year<\/a> and they have been suspended for many months gathering dust and cobwebs.\u00a0 However, last Monday our friendly sparky connected all the electrical string and now they look fabulous \u2013 although still dusty and cobwebby!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 3 chandeliers can be illuminated individually to give different light levels but they are quite bright and, with the white walls, a bit harsh.  Hopefully that will change when we change the colour of the walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, as we also want different lighting levels to create a warmer, cosier atmosphere on Tuesday I spent the day installing some subtler LED lights that I have hidden behind the top of the plasterboard.  They look great too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second major step we have completed is to clad the exterior of the pool house inside the pool enclosure.  So as to give some coherence to the new additions we have added to Kergudon, we have always planned the pool house to visually resemble the garage which can be seen from pool itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The garage is a timber framed building so attaching exterior cladding was simple.  For the pool house, being a breeze block construction, I had to attach a frame to the exterior that I could then nail the volige (cladding planks) to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We think it looks great and will only improve as the cladding loses its yellow treatment colour and we eventually stain it a similar colour to the garage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A smaller task was attaching the depth signs we have had created to indicate the depth of the water and we\u2019ve tried to do something lovely and Kergudon too!<\/p>\n\n\n

To keep everything looking as the garage, eventually I hope to paint the concrete columns so they resemble the wooden ones we have in the garage.\u00a0 I need to do a bit more research on YouTube before I attempt that!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today\u2019s Sunday stroll was one that we first did in June last year<\/a> starting on the north coast in the town of Brignogan Plages, known as Little Nice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being June, the last walk was sunnier and warmer, but one of the joys of returning to the same area is you can see things in different conditions \u2013 and at least it stayed dry today!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The circuit takes us as far west as the lighthouse (Phare) of Pontusval<\/a> and along yet another beautiful part of the Finist\u00e8re coast.\u00a0 It is only just over 8 kms in total but definitely recommended as a good route to take that passes by a couple of restaurants that we have added to our list of places to try at some point.\u00a0 We\u2019ll let you know what they\u2019re like if we manage to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have now completed everything we can do inside the pool house until David\u2019s Dad brings the paint for the top coats of the walls in a couple of weeks so I have had a bit of a tidy so our guests who arrive later in the week are able to use the pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whatever work we do, and I have a couple of plans, depends, as always at this time of year, on the weather which looks a little mixed but at least we benefit from the extra hour before sunset which definitely gives the impression of the year progressing \u2013 rapidly!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
