Sunday 16 October – Holidays are Coming …<\/h1>\n\n\n

I know most people probably won\u2019t want reminding of this, but we are now over half way through October and there are only a couple of months left until we are at Christmas again!\u00a0 Looking online it tells me that there are only 69 days left to go but, if you celebrate in the French way, there are only 68 days to Christmas Eve which is when French families sit down for their celebrations.<\/p>\n

I only point this out as we have had an odd sort of week decorating Granary for Christmas so we can take some lovely publicity pictures.\u00a0 This was especially odd as we have been enjoying a wonderful Indian summer for the last 3 weeks, made all the more authentic with a monsoon style spell of rain yesterday morning!<\/p>\n

We think Kergudon is a wonderful place year-round but is an especially lovely place to come and spend Christmas with your family.<\/p>\n

We decorate all of our g\u00eetes and all are fully equipped to enjoy a magical Christmas holiday.\u00a0 Whether you follow Breton tradition with a Christmas Eve dinner of seafood and shellfish or something more traditionally British on Christmas Day, our kitchens have everything you need to create the perfect meal and you can use the most amazing selection of fresh, local ingredients.<\/p>\n

Priory and Granary, our family sized g\u00eetes, have large, comfortable, lounges with sofas to relax into and let your dinner settle listening to music, watching a Christmas movie on television or DVD or, my favourite, playing lots of games designed to make you laugh and look a little bit silly!\u00a0 Most importantly you can do so in front of a wood burning stove to make sure it is warm and cosy.<\/p>\n

If you enjoy a festive stroll to work off dinner, or work up an appetite, there are many beautiful walks you can take from your own front door and, if the weather is a little inclement, you can take advantage of the wellingtons in our boot room (and the tumble dryer if necessary when you get home!)<\/p>\n

If you want to venture out there are many fabulous towns and villages to explore and enjoy a hot chocolate or something stronger including Locronan, which is always beautifully decorated for the festive season.<\/p>\n

For couples, Hayloft is the perfect cosy setting too with all the features of our larger g\u00eetes and only differs in that the sofa and dining room table are in the studio space with the kitchen.\u00a0 Alternatively, it could be the perfect annex for grandparents, other relatives or friends who want to come and enjoy Christmas with you.<\/p>\n

We prepare a tasty festive welcome box which, last year, included an individual Christmas cake, piccalilli and chutneys which means that I enjoy some lovely smells in our own home as David (chef) prepares these lovely treats.<\/p>\n

This year, the welcome box will also include a little surprise hand crafted by me and David for you to take home and keep and use year after year.<\/p>\n

Whatever you enjoy doing for the festive period we can cater here and we hope we can welcome you.<\/p>\n

As well as creating his Christmas treats, David has put together an amazing autumn \/ winter menu for our 3 Course Suppers, the summer menu having proven especially popular.\u00a0 You can have a look at the attached three-course-supper-autumn-winter-2016-en-fr<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Work for us has continued a pace and the fabulous weather has meant the grass has continued to grow furiously and is in constant need of cutting.\u00a0 We are taking the opportunity to do some essential maintenance to keep the g\u00eetes looking fresh and on more than one occasion we have had 4 washing machines on the go overnight to spring clean (or should that be autumn clean?) some of the fabrics.<\/p>\n

We are really pleased that we have continued to welcome guests to Kergudon and this week, as well as a couple who have come for a week\u2019s driving in their rather lovely car, we have welcomed a couple of newlyweds who are spending some of their honeymoon with us and only live about 10 minutes from Dave\u2019s parents in the UK \u2013 small world!<\/p>\n

The coming week should see some progress with the garage as we are expecting a number of deliveries including breeze blocks and the concrete to lay the foundations \u2013 all very exciting.\u00a0 I will keep you posted.<\/p>\n
