Wiring done, winds to come &#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I mentioned in <a href=\"http:\/\/kergudon.com\/fr\/sunday-8th-october-family-fun\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">last week\u2019s blog<\/a> that we had been enjoying the company of family visitors for the previous couple of weeks and that continued last week with David\u2019s parents staying with us.\u00a0 As such, it has been a mix of social and productive with some fabulous meals enjoyed at home and in some of the many excellent restaurants around.<\/p>\n<p>The early part of the week was fairly productive as Dave is at work for longer periods Monday to Wednesday his parents were happy to explore the region independently.\u00a0 On Monday I went into Brest with an electrician friend who is doing the wiring in Grange, with yours truly as his \u2018able\u2019 assistant again, to collect most of the material that we need to start the electrical work.<\/p>\n<p>Having picked up the material and agreed to start \u2018first fix\u2019 wiring on the Tuesday, most of Monday afternoon was tidying up the first floor of Grange and making sure that it was clear to start the work the following morning when our sparky friend returned.<\/p>\n<p>Over the next couple of days we threaded over 250 metres of cable throughout the building hopefully making sure that we covered all areas where we want sockets, lights and switches.\u00a0 As we also want to use what will be the games room as a private cinema for families to have film nights when they are staying with us, we also threaded conduit throughout the games room area where I will thread speaker cable for a full surround sound experience!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kergudon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Grange-Electrical-work-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2624 lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/kergudon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Grange-Electrical-work-1-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"Wiring the games room above Grange at Kergudon Gites, Finistere, Brittany\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/264;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, David and I worked but not on our own place.\u00a0 We have some good friends in a neighbouring village who needed some \u2018muscle\u2019 to help lift large wooden beams into the roof space of a building and, on the offer of lunch as payment, we when offered our services.\u00a0 There will be lots of opportunity when we will ask for similar favours!<\/p>\n<p>With David\u2019s parents we have had another social and cultural week.\u00a0 David took them to the Picasso exhibition on Monday making it his second trip in as many weeks, and we all had a couple of days out at the end of the week as we have been enjoying fantastically warm and bright weather.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday we went to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.finisterebrittany.com\/discover\/quimper\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Quimper<\/a>, a city that we really enjoy but one that David\u2019s parents hadn\u2019t visited for many years.\u00a0 About 45 minutes from us, Quimper is the prefecture for departement of Finist\u00e8re and so the main of the area with very historic origins.\u00a0 The centre of the city is mainly pedestrianised with some fabulous old buildings and lots of interesting things to do and see including, a little out of the city centre, a visit to the cidrerie and distillery of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kinkiz-terroir.bzh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Manoir Kinkiz<\/a> \u2013 our favourite Breton cider.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kergudon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Quimper-Cathedral.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2634 lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/kergudon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Quimper-Cathedral-300x228.jpg\" alt=\"Quimper cathedral, Finistere, Brittany\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px;
