Relative Calm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I posted <a href=\"https:\/\/kergudon.com\/fr\/sunday-30-september-wood-week-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">last week\u2019s blog<\/a> a little early as I mentioned that we had a fun event arranged and, for a similar reason, I am posting this week\u2019s blog a little late!<\/p>\n<p>Last Sunday night David and Belinda had arranged an end-of season BBQ and party to mark the conclusion of a busy and successful summer period.\u00a0 Belinda, and her husband Andrew, have been running the campsite on the shore of the Lac du Drennec for a similar length of time as we have owned Kergudon but, unlike us, they close over the winter and return to the UK.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kergudon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/End-of-Season-BBQ.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3569 lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/kergudon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/End-of-Season-BBQ-300x210.jpeg\" alt=\"End of Season BBQ\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/210;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mercedes was kind enough to allow us to use her restaurant, <a href=\"https:\/\/au-lac-du-drennec-restaurant.business.site\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Au Lac<\/a>, for the event and we had invited a number of other business owners involved in the tourist industry with other friends.\u00a0 It was a fantastic evening and, if I say it myself, one of the better BBQs I have cooked, helped by some fabulous foods brought along by the attendees.\u00a0 A massive thank you to everyone who made it, and to Mercedes for providing the location and her usual generosity.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kergudon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/End-of-Season-BBQ-2.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3568 lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/kergudon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/End-of-Season-BBQ-2-300x196.jpeg\" alt=\"End of Season BBQ 2\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/196;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Having said \u2018good bye\u2019 to David\u2019s aunt and uncle on the Thursday before, last Sunday we welcomed my own aunt and uncle for their very first visit to Kergudon and the BBQ was a great way to welcome them.<\/p>\n<p>With my uncle and aunt here it may not have been the most productive week as we enjoyed some very leisurely breakfasts together and some super dinners both courtesy of David and our local eateries.<\/p>\n<p>The weather all week has been exceptionally kind, with the exception of a wet and windy Saturday, and I did manage to cut the grass for the first time in a while, and if the forecast is to be believed I will be able to do so again next week.<\/p>\n<p>With the dry weather I have been able to split another load of our stacked wood and added it to the temporary store \u2013 although we have not yet lit our own wood burner this year I suspect it will be soon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kergudon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/wood-split.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3575 lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/kergudon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/wood-split-300x205.jpg\" alt=\"wood split\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/205;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The other major task I have started was (fanfare please) starting to clear out the existing man shed.\u00a0 This picture shows the state that it has become \u2013 on one end!\u00a0 I have only managed to do about a day and a half\u2019s worth of work and, unsurprisingly, that hasn\u2019t made a huge dent in the clearance!\u00a0 I should however be able to progress fairly rapidly this week.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kergudon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/ManShed.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3574 lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/kergudon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/ManShed-300x219.jpg\" alt=\"ManShed\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/219;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yesterday\u2019s weather was pretty awful so I had to concentrate on some online work and update a number of the websites that we advertise through \u2013 seems a bit scary already looking at August 2019!<\/p>\n<p>Today was another fabulous autumnal day, although again not very constructive.\u00a0 We joined one of David\u2019s good friends who attends many of his classes in the gym, to celebrate his birthday with a dog walk \u2013 ours and his \u2013 around the Lac du Drennec and lunch at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Au-Lac-Restaurant-884332985047205\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Au Lac<\/a> (our 3<sup>rd<\/sup> visit this week!)<\/p>\n<p>As previous years, they started using the water in the lake towards the end of the summer and, as it has been such a dry summer, the level has dropped incredibly.\u00a0 These images show the lake either side of the, normally, floating bridge.\u00a0 During our walk we saw our friend, Philippe Dolivet, fishing with some of his clients who actually caught a huge fish while we were watching \u2013 perhaps the level was so low there isn\u2019t much room for the fish to hide!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kergudon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Lac-du-Drennec.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3573 lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/kergudon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Lac-du-Drennec-300x85.jpg\" alt=\"le Lac Du Drennec\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px;
