{"id":3145,"date":"2019-11-17T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-11-17T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kergudon.com\/https-www-kergudon-com-sunday-17-november-raining-champions\/"},"modified":"2020-05-12T15:55:51","modified_gmt":"2020-05-12T15:55:51","slug":"sunday-17-november-raining-champions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kergudon.com\/fr\/sunday-17-november-raining-champions\/","title":{"rendered":"Sunday 17 November &#8211; Raining champions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My <a href=\"https:\/\/kergudon.com\/fr\/sunday-03-november-rain-rain-go-away\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">last blog<\/a>, 2 weeks ago, said that I was officially bored with the weather.\u00a0 Unfortunately that boredom has become a deep despondency as we have had no let up since \u2013 hence no blog last week and no photos this week.<\/p>\n<p>While we haven\u2019t had Fishlake levels of ground water, and we feel deeply sympathetic to those people who have actually suffered losses in the floods, there has not been a single day in the last 2 weeks when it hasn\u2019t rained at some point.\u00a0 We know this is Brittany, and so heavily impacted by the Atlantic lows, but there comes a point when you have to hope for a break.\u00a0 The last week has been so damp that even our tree surgeon hasn\u2019t been back.<\/p>\n<p>As a result these weeks have been amongst the least productive since we arrived here and the outside jobs which I want to do remain undone!<\/p>\n<p>We are achieving a number of smaller jobs that are useful to get done, or are reacting to problems that come up!\u00a0 For example I spent most of this morning dismantling a dishwasher that had decided to stop working to try and persuade it to function.\u00a0 Fingers crossed I have fixed it.\u00a0 We have added a few things to the decoration in Priory and done a lot of planning and preparation for the spring work.<\/p>\n<p>One significant thing we have achieved is choosing (easy) and buying (painful) the new kitchen that we will have installed.\u00a0 We decided to use the same kitchen that we installed in <a href=\"https:\/\/kergudon.com\/fr\/brittany-holiday-cottages\/family-holiday-accommodation-brittany\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gite Granary<\/a> et <a href=\"https:\/\/kergudon.com\/fr\/brittany-holiday-cottages\/luxury-self-catering-holiday-cottage-brittany\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gite Hayloft<\/a> in our first few months as we like its style and it has proved to be fairly resilient.<\/p>\n<p>We visited the shop where we bought it in February 2015, which has kept the display that <a href=\"https:\/\/kergudon.com\/fr\/sunday-15th-february-week-3-sort-of\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dave posed<\/a> in 4\u00bd years ago ever since, to see that the range is going to be discontinued in 2 weeks!\u00a0 It must have been fate.\u00a0 So we have now bought all the new units and the work is starting to feel very real \u2013 and very exciting.\u00a0 We will of course update in my blogs each week as we do it.<\/p>\n<p>Dave has continued to do a lot of good work on our website so you may have seen lots of change there \u2013 including, hopefully, in the speed that it loads onto your tablets and phones.\u00a0 And he continues to make Christmas treats and chutneys which makes the house smell good too.<\/p>\n<p>There does, finally, appear to be a break in the daily rainfall next week (depending on which of the myriad of weather websites we obsessively look at is to be believed) which may mean we can actually get things done outside \u2013 including possibly cutting the jungle which our lawns have become.\u00a0 We\u2019ll let you know!<\/p>\n<p>Salut.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My last blog, 2 weeks ago, said that I was officially bored with the weather.\u00a0 Unfortunately that boredom has become a deep despondency as we have had no let up since \u2013 hence no blog last week and no photos this week.
