I ended last week\u2019s blog<\/a> by saying that the priority had to be completing and rebuilding Gite Hayloft<\/a> as it hadn\u2019t received any of my attention the preceding week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am delighted to say that we achieved it, and this time we didn\u2019t leave it quite so late as is our past practice, so that we weren\u2019t adding the finishing touches as the guests drive down the lane!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was the sole work focus of the entire week and we managed to complete by yesterday afternoon.  The guests arrive this evening so we had a full 24  hours to spare!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As such, this blog is just a showcase for the new, refurbished, Hayloft prior to us updating the our website with the new images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I had managed to complete the living space of Hayloft by this time last week which left the bathroom to be done.  The first few days of the week were spent painting every surface in the space and they look much better for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cleaning and rebuilding was the second half of the week and we are delighted with the results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hayloft had stood up well since the initial renovation we gave it when we moved here in 2015 but was in need to some TLC.\u00a0 We decided to wait until we had the roof replaced last Autumn<\/a> \u2013 principally because until that was done, there remained a risk of leaks staining the ceiling and walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Almost every surface in Hayloft has been repainted but some of the smaller changes have made the biggest differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These have included putting up blinds in the kitchen and bathroom that David has made and we had never had before; we have replaced the entrance mat which, previously, had discoloured and was a collection of smaller mats as, for some reason, we hadn\u2019t bought a single large mat for the space; replaced, and added where required, skirting board; and we have replaced the oven as the previous one was beginning to show some signs of age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have also reconfigured the bedroom area as an experiment.  Previously, as you can see on the website, we had the bed against the side wall and the wardrobe on the back wall.  Now, we have placed the bed against the back wall and put the bedroom on the side which gives the impression of having more floor space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have a number of returning guests booked to stay in Hayloft over the next few months so will ask what their views are and see if we keep it this way.  If we do, we will need to look at some more artwork as it has created some large areas of wall that need some decoration!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David\u2019s Dad is still with us so we have eaten out on a couple of occasions and taken the opportunity to visit another new restaurant in Landerneau, Les Cap-Horniers<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have walked past this restaurant many times in the past few years but, as we didn\u2019t find the menu very inspiring we hadn\u2019t eaten there.  David recently saw that it had changed hands and the new menus looked much more interesting so we booked \u2013 and it was very good.  When we moved here 10 years ago, no one was able to recommend a restaurant worth visiting in Landerneau, now we have 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hayloft done, I am able to focus on different things next week \u2013 starting with the field \/ lawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the meantime, we wish everyone a very Happy Easter and hope you are able to enjoy some time off during the upcoming bank holidays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
